It's Always About Finding and Giving Love

Flo Schell's paintings draw from personal material: a lifetime of interest in issues facing girls and women and her own life stories, particularly her experience with mothering and being mothered.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    When faced with her first blank canvas, she felt the empowerment of bringing to life a figure of her own imagination.  And in doing so, found herself healing old wounds.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      She often approaches the canvas with an intention to bring forth an answer,  a solution, or even a hint, to a challenge she is facing.                                                                                                                                                                                  She embraces the concepts of Visionary and Intuitive Art....looking at the marks, lines and shapes she places on the canvas to find something that wants to appear to her.  Recently she  began experimenting with a more illustrative style.

Often using music to guide her strokes, her repertoire includes rap, blues, rock, and jazz.
